Plus, we encourage you to read as much as possible this summer! Check out the Summer Reading 2021 page for ideas!

Stargazing

Moon is everything Christine isn't. She's confident, impulsive, artistic . . . and though they both grew up in the same Chinese American suburb, Moon is somehow unlike anyone Christine has ever known. But after Moon moves in next door, these unlikely friends are soon best friends, sharing their favorite music videos and painting their toenails when Christine's strict parents aren't around. Moon even tells Christine her deepest secret: that she has visions, sometimes, of celestial beings who speak to her from the stars. Who reassure her that Earth isn't where she really belongs. Moon's visions have an all-too-earthly root, however, and soon Christine's best friend is in the hospital, fighting for her life. Can Christine be the friend Moon needs, now, when the sky is falling?

Clean Getaway

How to Go on an Unplanned Road Trip with Your Grandma? 1. Grab a Suitcase: Pre-packed from the big spring break trip that got CANCELLED. 2. Fasten Your Seatbelt: G'ma's never conventional, so this trip won't be either. 3. Use the Green Book: G'ma's most treasured possession. It holds history, memories, and most important, the way home. What Not to Bring: a cell phone to avoid contact with Dad even when G'ma starts acting stranger than usual. Set against the backdrop of the segregation history of the American South, take a trip with this eleven-year-old boy who is about to discover that the world hasn't always been a welcoming place for kids like him, and things aren't always what they seem--his G'ma included.
